1 month agoWe had a few questions about the items we'd never had. The person at the window was extremely helpful & knowledgeable. The food was great. Our sandwiches came with sides of potatoe salad which I had forgotten. We ordered a side of fries and onion rings. Plenty to split between the 5 of us. Update-10/3/24 stopped in to pick up lunch for 2. 1 Ruben special #5 how it comes. 1 on white no sauerkraut. 2 drinks & a side of fries. $36. Unfortunately that's pretty average nowadays. The meal was great. I wish I would have had a little more thousand but I'll remember that for the next time xtra 1000 on the side. Lots of new faces behind the counter. The guy manning the grill & the young lady who rang me up & bagged everything were friendly & talkative. We had a great discussion about books & different ways to read. Paper vers kindle vs audio. We'll definitely be back not just for the food but for the conversation as well.

2 month agoThe service was quick and the burger was phenomenal. Extremely tasty. My only complaint would be the fries could have been cooked more but that’s just my preference. The vanilla shake was also very good. I ate outside but the atmosphere inside was cool, very nostalgic. All in all thought this place was great. If I am ever in the area again I would definitely go back.

3 month agoBy far one of the best Italian Beef sandwiches around! It's not your typical thin sliced beef, it's a little thicker, which I liked. The giardiniera is amazing! Not sure what brand, but it's not overly hot, and the taste it amazing. The sandwich itself is a healthy sized sandwich! You won't leave hungry! The fries are made fresh.

3 month agoBeen coming here for years, even before I moved to Chicagoland and the food is always awesome, your old school "greasy spoon"! Today I ordered the steak sandwich, light on the onions and peppers, the way i like it, cheese too, ofcoarse! Also grabbed a side of fries, classic steak fries with the skins on em' and a Coke and about thr Coke, the mix of it is SPOT ON, not everyone gets THAT right but Strat's does!! Everything is made to order and the staff is always very nice and if you run into the owner there, well, he's REALLY cool. He's the one who told me about the steak sandwich and he couldn't have been more right. As you can see the decor is also old school, very cool and if you have a favorite sticker, well, place it on the in and/or out door, it's one of those things you door here. Btw if you want something sweet, try their chocolate cake....INCREDIBLE as well as their shakes, once again old school good but when you come here, don't worry about your diet, YOU DESERVE IT every so often

4 month agoAmple parking and such a flashback to that good ol greasy spoon best damn food place everrrrr. The trinkets around the place help set me back to my younger years. The hot dogs, Hamburgers, fish sandwiches, and best French fries anywhere. The grilled cheese sandwich looks amazing on that Texas toast. Will try next time. I highly recommend going here yall. Pop in and have your in flashback.
